A New Solidarity Project by five volunteers of ESN Czech Republic
Erasmus Student Network Czech Republic is proud to launch a new European Solidarity Corps initiative: Unity in Diversity, a 9-month solidarity project running from August 2025 to April 2026.
The project, designed and led by a group of five motivated young volunteers, addresses some of today’s most pressing social challenges—discrimination, social exclusion, and lack of understanding towards the queer community and other marginalised groups in Prague.
Why this project?
Although Prague is often seen as a liberal and inclusive city, prejudice and stereotypes still persist. Many members of the queer community face discrimination, isolation, and limited access to safe spaces. Unity in Diversity seeks to change that by creating platforms for open dialogue, intergenerational exchange, and awareness-raising activities.
What will happen?
Over nine months, the project will offer an inspiring mix of webinars, workshops, and public events, including:
- Discussion panels on LGBTQIA+ rights, mental health, and youth engagement on 23rd October 2025
- Workshops on empathy and storytelling, including a “Living Library,” where participants can engage with people from marginalised communities on 19th March 2026
- Webinars tackling issues such as stress, volunteering, and discrimination on social media on 30th September, on 11th November and on 26th February
- Health activities, including HIV prevention education and free, anonymous testing in cooperation with local organisations on 1st December 2025 and 27th January 2026
Through these activities, the team aims to engage at least 100 participants of all ages—from youth to the elderly—building bridges between generations and perspectives.
What impact do we expect?
The project will create safe spaces for dialogue, where participants can challenge stereotypes and develop empathy towards diversity. Pre- and post-project surveys will measure changes in awareness and attitudes, while recordings, blog posts, and social media campaigns will ensure the results reach a broader audience of thousands.
For the queer community, Unity in Diversity will offer visibility, empowerment, and opportunities to express real needs. For society as a whole, it will strengthen solidarity, democratic participation, and mutual respect.
Sustainability and outreach
Even after the official project ends, ESN Czech Republic will continue to organise events, publish educational materials, and share resources online to ensure lasting impact. Thanks to ESN’s wide network across 46 countries, the outcomes of Unity in Diversity will also inspire communities beyond the Czech Republic.
